January 2023 Book 1: Where the Crawdads Sing
2023 is upon us, and with that I have a new goal. This year, I’m setting out to read at least 24 books, two books per month. Between my job as a barista, writing and handling my author business, and just taking care of myself as a human, I find it difficult to dedicate time to reading. However, I’m determined to not let reading fall to the wayside this year.
This blog series will be dedicated to my reading adventures, and I invite anyone and everyone to read along. For the beginning of January, the first book I have selected is Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens.
Where the Crawdads Sing was originally published on August 14, 2018. Before writing this, I had no idea this book had been released so recently. Where the Crawdads Sing also received a movie adaptation that released in 2022 and, at the time of writing, holds a 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
This book has received a lot of attention recently, and several people have recommended that I read it. Multiple close friends of mine are huge fans, and they’ve been encouraging me to give it a shot. I received Where the Crawdads Sing as a Christmas gift, so it’s going to be my first book of this journey.
I hope to finish it this week, and I will post a review once I’m finished. My next book after that is going to be a bit lighter and shorter, and I will announce it with the review blog. If you pick up Where the Crawdads Sing to read along with me or you’ve already read it before, let me know in the comments. Also, leave your suggestions for books I should read in the future!
